Our Story
We are two BIPOC solo attorneys who, after years of dedicated service in nonprofit legal work, recognized the need for a different approach to making an impact. As mothers, we found that nonprofit salaries made it impossible to sustain our families, despite our passion for the work. To balance our commitment to social justice with the need for financial stability, we launched our own solo law firms.
Running a solo firm comes with its own challenges, especially the difficulty of maintaining consistent income. However, our shared experiences led us to a unique solution. We met while serving as supervising attorneys at a nonprofit, where we helped thousands of people apply for immigration protections through scalable, collaborative efforts. There, we witnessed how hiring contract attorneys allowed nonprofits to expand their services dramatically without the long timelines and high costs of building internal legal departments
Inspired by this model, we set out to continue our nonprofit work in a new way—partnering with legal nonprofits, community based organizations and churches to expand legal services.
Our goal is not to compete but to collaborate, helping organizations scale their impact without having to divert precious resources.
Even with substantial funding, nonprofits often struggle to hire and train staff quickly enough to meet the urgent and immediate needs of migrants. This gap in legal triage services not only limits their reach but also leaves vulnerable individuals without critical assistance during pivotal moments. By providing scalable, on-demand support, we aim to bridge this gap and ensure that nonprofits are better equipped to face the challenges ahead—especially in an increasingly hostile political climate.
